Saginaw could land a $177 million solar modular production plant that officials say could employ 500 people within five years.
Officials say the city is in a bidding war with a Texas community also vying for the courting of GlobalWatt, a San Jose, Calif.-based solar industry company.
A GlobalWatt spokeswoman said the business could decide by late December whether to move in to the closed Enterprise Automotive Systems - Saginaw Division at 1200 Leon Scott.
“At this point, the company is still evaluating its options,” said Dawn Baetsen, GlobalWatt’s spokeswoman.
