Solar Panels Rising at Avidan Management’s Edison, New Jersey Property

ELIZABETH, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Avidan Management, LLC announced today that it has completed half of the installation of a solar-electric system on the seventeen-acre rooftop of its property at 145 Talmadge Road in Edison, New Jersey. At 4.26 megawatts, the solar-electric system will be the largest rooftop system in the U.S.

A contract for the design, engineering, and installation of the system was awarded to Solar Nation® in September 2010. Project completion is scheduled for May 2011.

In all, Solar Nation will install 17,745 SolarWorld® Sunmodule® panels, manufactured in the U.S., that will form the collecting end of the 4.26 megawatt solar-electric system. In addition to the panels, the system will also incorporate eight inverters and 55 combiners, manufactured by SMA America. The system will produce over 5 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, enough to meet over half of the electrical-power needs of the building’s seventeen commercial tenants, including a large refrigerated frozen warehouse, each of which will purchase electricity from the system at a discounted rate. The system will reduce tenant operating expenses and will cut carbon emissions by approximately 3,750 tons per year.

"Avidan is committed to stewardship,” said Avi Avidan, Managing Member of Avidan Management. “We recognize and embrace our responsibility to make smart decisions that are not only good for our business, but also for the tenants and the communities that we serve. By installing solar on our properties, we are reducing the operating expenses of our tenants, making them stronger businesses, stronger employers — all while improving the environment and reducing pressure on the electrical grid.”

"By leveraging New Jersey’s renewable energy portfolio standards to deliver clean, discount energy to tenants, Avidan Management is continuing its leadership in commercial and industrial real estate," said Paul Hodge, chief executive officer of Solar Nation. "We are proud to work with a company that continually finds better ways to serve its customers and community, and we congratulate them on their significant commitment to renewable, emission-free solar power."
